Course Description: The basic assumption behind this course is that cultures are symbolic systems. The course will look at many different societies, focusing on the institution of sexuality and its constituent symbols. Sexuality will be discussed in its relation to other institutions emphasizing correlations between core symbols of the institution of sexual beliefs and practices and core symbols in other institutions. This course will employ a multi-media approach. |
