Course Description: This course will provide the student with an introduction to the management of emergency incidents. These incident will include moderate to large fire incidents, emergency medical incidents, structural collapse incidents, and hazardous materials incidents. The structure of the course will be the National Incident Management System as recommended by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Areas to be covered are ICS organization and overview; incident facilities and resources; organizing and staffing incident and events; resource management, and incident and event planning; procedures for structural and high-rise fires; procedures for structural collapse; procedures for emergency medical incidents; and procedures for hazardous materials. The student will discuss the theory behind ICS, as well as, practical applications based on scenarios developed by the instructor and actual events over the past decade |
