Course Description:
This course takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of child development. We will learn about the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of children through the research and theoretical perspectives of psychologists, sociologists, social workers, educators, and epidemiologists, to name a few. While we focus on early childhood, attention will be given to all stages of development as a means of more fully understanding the changes that take place as children mature. Since most of the students in the class are education majors, we will also pay special attention to the roles of schools and teachers in children's lives.
