Course Description: A journey into contemporary Latin American and Caribbean cultures, through the reading and discussion of politics, customs, art, music and cinema. This WI course will be taught in English. |
Special Requirements: Technological requirements: Students should have high speed internet. Students are responsible for making sure they have adequate access to the course. Students can access the course from work, public libraries, on-campus computer labs., etc., but it is strongly recommended that they own their computers so that they can access the course at any time. The link for free downloads of the needed programs (such as Quicktime, Microsoft Media Player, Acrobat Reader, etc.) are available at the QCC website.
Basic computer knowledge: Students must know how to cut and paste, navigate the Internet, send e-mails, operate a computer mouse, etc. |
Online Component: The entire course is online: Students buy a textbook to study the course content, but submit online class discussions, written reports, quizzes, peer reviews and three formal writing assignments. Additionally, they are exposed to authentic online course related materials, such as visual images, video clips from musical groups, shows, films, drawings, and paintings, etc. from Latin American and Caribbean countries. |
