Course Description: This is the second elementary German course to be taken by students who either took LG111 at QCC or the equivalent course in another college, or for students who had two years of German in high school. The language is taught in context with the objective of developing skills in comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing basic German. |
Special Requirements: Students will reinforce their skills acquired in the classroom by viewing of video-stream material related to German culture, written web-based activities, and audio exercises.
Technological requirements: Students should have high speed internet. Students are responsible for making sure they have adequate access to the course. Students can access the course from work, public libraries, on-campus computer labs., etc., but it is strongly recommended that they own their computers so that they can access the course at any time. Students also need to install Quicktime (or Microsoft Media Player), Acrobat Reader, as well as Flash and Shockwave players. The link for free downloads of these programs are available at the QCC website.
Basic computer knowledge: Students must know how to cut and paste, navigate the Internet, send e-mails, operate a computer mouse, etc. |
Online Component: Only a portion of the course is online. Students are required to submit written assignments and post them in Blackboard to be read by their peers, as well as complete web-based oral and written exercises directly related to the content of the course. They also get exposure to authentic material from German speaking countries.
Students buy a textbook to study the course content, which is cover in the classroom, but submit grammar exercises, compositions, complete audio exercises, and participate in simple dialogues on the Discussion Board.
Mid-term, final and most of the quizzes are delivered in the classroom. |
Pre-requisites: nPrerequisites are LG111 Elementary German I at QCC, or the equivalent course from another college, or two years of German in high school. |
