Course Description: This course explores the city as it has been seen through the eyes of modern painters, sculptors, photographers, and architects. Topics addressing the ways artists have responded to the city include 1) documenting urban society and culture; 2) cityscape and landscape; 3) the individual in the city; 4) war and the city; 5) living and working spaces in the city; and 6) the family in the city.
