Course Description: Comparative study of cultures,or ways of life, of people around the world, with emphasis on non-Western, preliterate cultures. Examples may include Native American peoples, South American tribal peoples, the Amish, Gypsies, and the Inuit (Eskimo) of Northern Canada and Alaska. Analysis of major aspects of culture, including language, marriage, birthing and child rearing; family and kinship, law, government and social control, and religion. |
