Course Description:
1)Introduce the concepts and principles underlying financial reporting;
2)Interpret and apply accounting information in business decisions;
3)Understand the procedures and techniques needed to prepare a complete set of financial statements;
4)Improve communication and online skills that are essential for success in business today. The computer skills include reasonable knowledge in Excel, utilizing the Internet to gather financial information, and effective use of Blackboard. Students are required to complete homework assignments using WileyPlus, a specially designed software. Students MUST acquire a WileyPlus access code in order to be able to access and complete the assigned problems and project online. This access code is provided as part of the packaged course materials which can be purchased through the bookstore. If a student purchases a second-hand copy of the textbook, S/he MUST separately purchase the WileyPlus code. Further details of how this can be done will be provided in the first class.
Special Requirements:
Students must have ready access to a computer and network connection.
Online Component:
Extensive use of Threaded Discussion feature in Blackboard, in the analysis of "Real" live cases.
Pre-requisites:
sophomore standing, Math 2001.
