Course Description:
Hospitality Management Accounting and Finance (HM 602) introduces the fundamental tools used by hospitality managers to analyze and interpret financial, economic, and operational data
Special Requirements:
Word processing and spreadsheet familiarity

A reasonable comfort level accessing and assessing the quality and reliability of Internet information sources
Online Component:
Working in teams, students select a publicly traded company from the travel and tourism industry. Using free Edgar, teams collect the most recent 10k for ratio calculations and general edification about a company. Each team tracks the news and performance of their selected company throughout the semester.

Team members choose roles such as analyst and broker. All students are required to subscribe to Wall Street Journal Online Edition and must come to class or post on the discussion board breaking news and current stock prices of their selected companies.

The discussion board serves for ongoing conversation about course relevant topics gleaned from the WSJ Online and other online sources.

Other online components include quizzes, team discussion boards, and occasional live chats.
